Should be at least 150,000 maybe even 300,000........1,500 to these money bags is less than a drop in the ocean。
Small change!
The chines government are laughing at Abbott and his government and the soft touch that they are. Should be over $50000 for an application fee. Their government would be happy to forego this feeble amount to let their people slowly whittle away ownership of assets in this country.
The fee should be much bigger ... at least $25,000. This is NOT a racist move ... most countries prohibit non citizens and non residents into buying any properties.
I agree with Jim, $1500 is too little to those Chinese. The fees need to be at least $15,000 and with double stamp duty. It would be even better to ban all purchases by foreigners at all. Chinese are famously break the rule by paying someone to buy, own, and maintain the properties for them. We need the new law and extra resources to crack down all these things. People buying for foreigners should be jailed for a min of 10 years, and the foreigners be blacklisted to enter or do anything in Australia. The properties will be seized and become the asset of the government and no money is returned. We all know those foreigners are driving up the price of properties, up to the point where our local Australians find it hard to buy one. I don't understand why foreigners are still allowed to buy any properties here now.
