Forbes House Museum welcomed a very special guest on Monday, as the Museum's founder, Dr. H. A. Crosby Forbes made a visit to historic site.
Crosby joined the staff for tea and lunch, spending some time viewing the galleries and recounting his family history as well as his long museum career.
Forbes, the great grandson of Captain Robert Bennet Forbes, had a long and distinguished career as the founder of the Museum of the American China Trade (later named the Forbes House Museum), and Curator of Asian Export Art at Peabody Essex Museum, Salem.
He commented that the museum looked great, and urged the staff to continue serving the public with programs and exhibits!
An interview with Dr. Forbes was conducted by Claudia Woods, Principal of CBC Associates Inc., a long-time friend of Crosby's; the interview was video taped by Dr. Forbes's own son, Douglas Forbes, a professional videographer based in New York City.
The interview will be available for viewing later this year as part of a celebration of Dr. Forbes's accomplishments.
